In late 2015, Thommie was contacted by the creative team of Darryl McDaniels of RUN DMC. He was asked to assemble a team of dancers to perform with Darryl at an upcoming charity event. Once they met, Thommie was also asked to choreograph a tap dancing routine featuring young people for the performance.
While filling out paperwork, Thommie was asked what the group was called. Without any forethought, the name NYC Tap Crew was typed into the form. Ten years later, we are stronger than ever and continue to train young people into high-end, talented performers.
Mr. Thommie has created a warm and welcoming environment where kids can train and, at the same time become part of a community full of kids with the same interests and goals. Online rehearsals for our pre-professional tap-dancing team take place each Sunday. The 2025/2026 season begins August 17 and runs through June 28.
